Intercessory Prayer

Dahlonega UMC Intercessors

DUMC’s Intercessors ask godly, committed men and women to set aside time each week in concentrated prayer for the needs of our congregation, church ministries, pastors, community, missionaries, and the lost. Those who make this commitment are supplied with prayer requests of a varied nature.

Many individuals have shared that this ministry has resulted in a deeper personal walk with the Lord Jesus Christ, as they have drawn closer to Him in times of praise, confession, intercession, and adoration.

DUMC's Intercessors pray at home or at the Church. Intercessors commit to the Prayer Team for six months, and then either renew or take time to rest.

If you are a member of DUMC and would like to be a part of DUMC's Intercessory Prayer Team, please send a message to the Prayer Team.

There are many different ways to serve as a DUMC Intercessor. Our Intercessors prayerfully decide where they feel most called to serve. Some of these ways include

  • praying over daily prayer requests
  • taking a "watch" on the Prayer Wall
  • meeting to pray at the Church
  • prayer walking in Dahlonega
  • interceding for worship services, in rotation
  • praying for a particular DUMC ministry area
  • fasting for the Church
  • attending a monthly prayer gathering
  • participating in Pray Lumpkin
  • interceding for our Healing Rooms Ministry
  • praying with individuals in hospitals
  • serving on our Congregational Care Team
  • serving in our Casserole Ministry
  • serving on our Bereavement Meals Team

DUMC's Intercessors are encouraged to seek the Lord for the ways He would have them serve and grow. Training and equipping are available in different areas of Intercessory Prayer at DUMC.

DUMC Prayer Wall

Individuals and families in our church commit to pray on a specific day each week, during a specific "watch." In this way, our DUMC Prayer Wall Team provides 24/7 prayer cover for our church family, church ministries, pastors, and community outreach.

Those who take a "watch" on the DUMC Prayer Wall commit to pray sometime during one of the following watches:

  • Morning watch – 6:00 a.m. – noon
  • Afternoon watch – noon – 6:00 p.m.
  • Evening watch – 6:00 p.m. – midnight
  • Night watch – midnight – 6:00 a.m.

Prayer time may be of any length. Prayers may be offered at home, in the car, at the Church, or wherever is comfortable and convenient.

In addition to praying for our church and community, Prayer Wall Team members lift up specific prayer needs, such as an individual having surgery or a job interview during their "watch."

Prayer Wall Team members have shared that they appreciate this time of closeness with the Lord, this spiritual focus during their day, and the opportunity to pray for specific needs that arise on their "watch."

If you are a member of DUMC and would like to sign up for the Prayer Wall, please send a message to the Prayer Team.

Pray Lumpkin

Join us in an inter-denominational prayer initiative for the needs of our local community.

Our next Pray Lumpkin prayer gathering is

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

6:30-8:30 p.m. (come and go as you need)

Providence Christian Bookstore (Wal-Mart plaza)

The purpose of Pray Lumpkin is for the Christian community, living and working in Dahlonega and Lumpkin County, to come together across denominational lines to pray for the needs of Lumpkin County and the City of Dahlonega, asking for God's intervention here.

In every city in which transformation has taken place, believers have come together to pray for their city. Prayer changes the spiritual climate of a city.

Some of the main areas of influence that must be the focus of our prayers include churches, businesses, government, media, education, arts and entertainment, and family.

"If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

To learn more about Pray Lumpkin, please send a message to the Prayer Team.
