Worship
Dahlonega UMC has great diversity in our worhsip services. We believe there is a place for everyone!
We have four main worship services that meet each weekend. We also have "A Service of More" that meets the 1st and 3rd Sunday evenings. Location: Each of the services meet in our Sanctuary.
Main Services: Typically Dr. Ross preaches all 4 of these services when he is in the midst of a series. 8 -12 weekends of the year we have special guests, other staff members, or music specials that share the preaching opportunites.
Communion: We celebrate communion monthly on the weekend of the 1st Sunday of the month.
Nursery: A nursery is provided at all but the Sunday 8:30 worship service.
Saturday 5:30pm This is our newest service. Jeremy Noles is our worship leader. He brings a thoughtful, spiritual, contemplative, easy style to both Contemporary and Traditional Songs. Typically, Jeremy is accompanied by a piano and a couple of friends on guitars. Angie Mayo and Jay Scovil are regular soloists. If you would like to plug into the worship team email Jeremy at gnaworship@yahoo.com. Matt Tompkins and Suzanne Crossan help in the sound booth. The style of the service is conversational/casual. Because of the time of the service, there is more interaction than in the Sunday services.
Sunday 8:30am An abbreviated traditional service. Hymns are sung out of the Methodist Hymnal. Joy Jones leads our hymns. Christy Greenwald and Janet Eriksson rotate as liturgists. Typically we use the same creeds, prayers, hymns and liturgy as the 11:00 service. Generally the service runs until 9:10-9:15. Sunday School follows at 9:30, we have 5 adult classes to choose from. Henry and Kathy Davis help in the Sound Booth.
Sunday 9:30am A contemporary service. Many of the songs we sing are the same ones you would hear on 91.5FM or 104.7FM. Radford Windham leads the band that usually includes 4-5 musicians. Radford brings a ton of passion and expereince to the service. Typically we sing 5-6 songs as we worship together. Kerri Johnson begins the service with insight, inspiration and a focus on God's presence. Patrick Rauth coordinates all the activities in sound booth, if you are interested in helping in our booth either with sound or projection contact Patrick at prauth@gmail.com. During the 9:30 service we offer our D'Town Kidz Church worship and sunday school for Junior and Senior High Youth. We have recently begun to offer adult Sunday school classes that begin at 10:45 for our 9:30 worshipers. Currently we have two classes.
Sunday 11:00am A traditional service. The ministers and choir are robed. Typically the songs are out of the hymnal although we regularly add contemporary choruses to the mix. Lynn Lathem is our Choir Director and if you have an interest in the choir you can contact her at llathem@bellsouth.net. Rev. Christy Greenwald serves as the liturgist, Helen Hardman is our organist and Jeffrey Herndon, pianist. Children participate in the 1st 10 minutes or so of the service and then head to Children's Church after Children's Sermon by the pastor.
Sunday Evenings: For those seeking a little extra worship and prayer time on Sunday evenings, we offer the following:
