Elijah House

Do you struggle with a particular relationship? Have you experienced broken relationships? Are there walls in your relationships that you don't know how to remove? Do you want your relationships to be more meaningful and whole?

Do you feel blocked in any areas of your life? No matter what you try, the same thing happens to you again and again, as if you're caught in a cycle? Do you feel like you attract the very situations you want to avoid, or that your worst expectations are often fulfilled?

Do you ever behave in ways that "don't make sense"? Do you wish you could respond differently in certain situations? Have you ever wondered why a particular word or action triggers an unwanted emotion in you?

Do you want more peace, more joy, more fullness in your life? Do you want to live in the freedom and joy of all that God created you to be?

Many of our struggles today are rooted in our responses to yesterday's wounds. These roots cannot be erased by fleshly efforts at good behavior. But by the power of the Cross, where we can identify and bring these roots to death in Christ, we can be truly free.

This is the Elijah House experience.

What is Elijah House?

Elijah House is a ministry that can supply us with Biblical tools for discerning root issues founded upon universal laws in the Word of God and allow true inner healing and freedom.

In Elijah House, we look at the "fruit" in our lives - our patterns of behavior, and the barriers that block us. We learn to trace the fruit back to its "roots." These roots may come from moments of wounding in our lives - a word somebody spoke, or an event long forgotten. Some wounds go back to our earliest moments, in the way a parent responded to our cries as babies.

These wounds can continue to affect our lives today, in ways we don't often realize. Whether we had a difficult upbringing, or a "perfect" childhood, we all have wounds, and these shape our lives in many ways.

In Elijah House, we learn that by the power of the Cross, we can bring these roots to death. We can allow Jesus to renew our minds and hearts, so that we begin to produce new and lasting fruit in His image - without striving, without having to "manage" our behavior.

A few issues covered in the Basic class:

Bitter Roots   Performance Orientation
Basic Trust   Parental Inversion
Denial   Slumbering Spirit
Spiritual Rebellion   Cutting Free
Honoring Mother & Father   Heart of Stone & Inner Vows
Identifications of Love   Accomplishing Forgiveness
Rightly Expressing Emotion   ...and many more!

More on Elijah House...

"How do the 'roots' in my life cause unwanted 'fruit'?"

"Honor your father and your mother.. "

How many times have you heard this commandment of God? Did you know that this simple commandment might be the reason you struggle in an area of your life?

Perhaps you always did your best to honor your parents, but did they ever say anything that upset you? How did you respond? Do you remember? Did you ever vow to be different from your parents in any way? Did you ever "honor" them by avoiding a difficult conversation with them? Through Elijah House, you will learn how one forgotten moment or reaction, or one vow or decision made early in childhood might have set God's commandment to "honor your father and your mother" in motion for you, in ways that affect your life - for good or for bad - today.

Four Scriptural and universal laws have the potential to affect our lives deeply, in ways we may not realize:

• "Honor your father and your mother & that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you... " (Deuteronomy 5:16)

• "Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you." (Matthew 7:1-2)

• " ...for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap." (Galatians 6:7)

• " ...for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself..." (Romans 2:1)

God's law is absolute. Just as we can't escape the physical law of gravity, we can't escape God's Scriptural laws. When we respond in sinful ways to hurtful situations, we reap what we sow. Our response can set into motion a chain reaction that can multiply over time (Hosea 8:7) and affect us in many different ways - often in hidden ways. We might not be aware of these sinful responses, but we reap from them nevertheless.

Because we live in a fallen world, under God's law this reaping is set to go on forever. We cannot stop it. But God can! He has given us the ONLY way to stop the reaping - by the saving power of Jesus! When we bring our sinful responses, our "roots" and our behavior patterns to death on the Cross, we allow Jesus to heal and restore us; to stop all that we would have reaped, and turn it into blessings that are multiplied; to make us free and whole, and to free those who are held in bondage by our unforgiveness; to help us become all that God intended us to be.

It is the work of the Holy Spirit that shines light in our hearts and spirits, showing us the "root" of an unwanted "fruit," and guiding us through confession, repentance and forgiveness - in His perfect way. These are the tools of ministry imparted and experienced through Elijah House training.

"If I'm already saved, why do I still have unwanted 'fruit'?"

Christ has fully accomplished our death on the Cross. However, our carnal nature refuses to stay dead. It springs back to life. Thus we are warned not to let any root of bitterness spring up and cause trouble (Hebrews 12:15). We must actively allow Jesus to seek out and remove the "roots" of our unwanted "fruit."

Also, there are places deep in our hearts that simply haven't gotten the message yet - the wonderful message that we are saved and freed and healed by Jesus! We might know in our minds that we are saved, but we still hold places of unbelief, fear and doubt deep in our hearts. We may not be aware of those places, but they can affect us in our daily lives. Jesus is here to free us from every place of unbelief in our hearts! He can use the tools we learn and practice in Elijah House as one way to shine His light into those areas and bring healing.

The Apostle Paul encourages us that sanctification is an ongoing process: "Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me." (Philippians 3:12) We are to "work out" our salvation "with fear and trembling." (Philippians 2:12)

Paul also talks about "forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead." (Philippians 3:13) Too often, we as Christians are tempted to "forget" the past by burying it, ignoring it, or building over it - rather than giving Jesus access to every area of our hearts, so that He can search our innermost parts (Proverbs 20:27). Jesus can remove the bitter roots from our past. He can clean us from the inside out (Matthew 23:26), so that we can produce new and lasting "fruit" in His image (John 15:16) - without striving, without "managing" our behavior, without falling back on old habits. He can renew our minds and give us new hearts - our behavior changes naturally, as a result.

Christ's work IS complete. But God is still at work in our lives, so that we may live in fullness of joy and fellowship and freedom, so that we may become all that He created us to be - today! True freedom requires that we recognize many of our struggles today have their roots in our sinful responses to yesterday's wounds. These roots cannot be erased by fleshly efforts at good behavior. But by the power of the Cross, where we can identify and bring these roots to death in Christ, we can be truly free.

"So if the Son sets you free you will be free indeed - John 3:36."
