Know the Lingo

Community Group - Small groups of 6 to 12 people which meet in someone’s home for fellowship, Bible study, prayer and accountability. Community Groups make a commitment to meet together weekly for a period of 12 to 24 months.

Community Group Director - A chruch staff person responsible for leading and devleoping group leaders, assisting the Leadership Council and will resourse groups as needed.

Community Life Director - An exerienced Community Group Leader who charis the Leadership Council. 

Leadership Council - Veteran group leaders who help people move into community groups by connecting them with a group that fits their individual needs.  Leadership Council members also work with the Group Director to plan connections, assist with spreading and troubleshooting.

Community Group Leaders - Volunteers who help facilitate group meetings. Group leaders are responsible for providing their groups with vision, direction and support. They facilitate the actual group meeting and act as the liaisons to the church.

Group Apprentice - The apprentice is a Community Group Leader in training.  This "on the job training"  is the best way to effectively develop the Community Group Leaders of the future.  Let your Group Leader or the Group Director know if you are interested in apprenticing.

Leadership Training - Event offered 2-4 times per year to assist group leaders with the nuts & bolts of facilitating effective groups. 

Covenant - Each community group draws up a covenant to manage and establish expectations. Group members determine when, where and what time to meet. They also decide how long they will meet and what curriculum the group will study.

Curriculum - The curriculum your group selects should address each of our three vital relationships: intimacy with God, community with group members and the whole church family, and influence on the world around us. Curriculum ideas should be discussed with the Community Group Director.

Way Point - A planned interruption that will help you get to know your community group and build deeper relationships. It’s a time when the group plans a community service project or a family outing for an evening or day of fun.

Spreading - The process of grou pmultiplication.  At the end of a 12-24 month commitment, a community group miltiplies to form two or more groups by adding new group members.  Healthy groups are always growing.

The Connection - An event where people meet and fellowship with others who are interested in being a part of a community group.

Get On Track

When you get involved in group life you are actually getting involved in a large family.  Each member of a community group is serving Jesus Christ by serving others, both in your group, in the church and in the community itself.  There are many ways for you to deepen your fiath walk and to serve in a more official capacity.  There are several groups with diverse experiences.  Each offers different ways to get involved with teh Chruch community.
